Anguilla to Be Represented At Small Hotels Retreat in Puerto Rico

Mrs. Sherille Hughes. President of the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association, and 3rd Vice President of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, along with Ms. Gilda Gumbs-Samuel, Executive Director of the AHTA, and other Anguillian Tourism members will travel this week to Puerto Rico to attend the Small Hotel Retreat, CHEAE meeting, and Taste of the Caribbean.
Other attendees attending from Anguilla will be representatives of Carimar Beach Club and Sunset Homes.
The annual learning conference, which is being held at the Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa in Puerto Rico, is scheduled from September 9th-11th, 2010. Ms. Gumbs–Samuel will also attend the CSHAE (Caribbean Society of Hotel Association Executives) meeting, and the sub committee meeting for the Taste of the Caribbean, while Ms. Sherille Hughes will attend the CHTA Executive meetings, as well as the other meetings and conferences. Gilda has described this as a very hard working conference, and said they will accomplish a lot of work in a very short period of time while in Puerto Rico.
CHTA has put together a very impressive programme, which will be highlighted by dynamic speakers for the Small Hotel Retreat. The Theme of this year's conference is SERVING THE NEEDS OF SMALL AND INEDPENDENT HOTELIERS, and it primarily focuses on smaller hotels consisting of 75 rooms and under. The conference is designed by and for small and independent Caribbean properties.
CHTA has designated September 10th as Marketing Day, "Creating Managing and Maximizing Demand" formulated to serve the small hotels' marketing needs, and it is highlighted with a series of round table discussions.
The Taste of The Caribbean Competition is also scheduled for the same period as the Small Hotel Retreat, and while the Anguilla Chefs will not be competing this year due to financial constraints, Mr. Dean Samuel, Executive Souse Chef of Cap Juluca, and Team Captain, Mr. Glendon Carty, Executive Chef of Ripples and Caribbean Chef Ot The Year, along with Ms. Shermel Gumbs, Pastry Chef of Cap Juluca, and Pastry Chef of the Anguilla Culinary Chefs, will attend the Taste of the Caribbean and will be attending various seminars, and workshops, learning the new trends in the industry.
