Press Release: ANGUILLA, BRITISH WEST INDIES, Saturday, 12th December, 2009
On Friday December 4th, 2009 a total of 157 tourism professionals, members of the Anguillian community, and other invited guests gathered at the beautiful Coba' Restaurant at Viceroy Anguilla, Residences and Spa, situated between two of Anguillia's most beautiful bays, to hear who had won the coveted Tourism Awards.
The Tourism Gala and Awards – under the distinguished patronage of Honorable Victor F Banks, Minister of Tourism, is truly a showcase of Anguilla’s excellent high-end tourism product. Welcome remarks were presented by Mrs. Sherille Hughes, Owner /Manager of Paradise Cove, and 3rd Vice President of CHTA. The opening remarks were delivered by His Excellency, The Govenor Mr. Alistair Harrison while the task of Master of Ceremonies went to Mr. Delroy Lake, Manager of Ku Hotel, and VP of the AHTA.
The evening was judged an over whelming success as Award Winners and Nominees were recognized and appreciated in a high quality ‘Oscars’ style Awards ceremony. This fabulous evening was the first opportunity for all to witness the significant addition that Viceroy Anguilla, brings to our inventory of high end properties, and the beautiful Coba' restaurant was truly the perfect setting for this event. The evening’s delicious menu allowed all to experience the talents of Viceroy’s team of three Executive Chefs. The multiple Culinary Gold Medal Winners, and our celebrated Chef of
the Caribbean, Mr. Glendon Carty was highly visible, and received a rousing round of applause when they were all introduced. Mr. Ian (Sugar George) Edwards, owner of Sunset Homes and Spyglass Hill Villa, awarded and presented Mr. Glendon Carty with a beautiful trophy. The evening continued with much dancing inside the restaurant, with music provided by the fabulous
Boss and the Horsepower Band, and music poolside was by none other than the famous DJ. Sugar. By all accounts, this was by far the best Awards and Gala celebration organized by the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association, and the Tourism week organizing committee.
The Award Winners were:
