AHTA Welcomes CTO Tourism Chief, Ricky Skerritt, as the Keynote Speaker for their AGM

Press Release: ANGUILLA, BRITISH WEST INDIES, Monday, March 19, 2012

The Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association (AHTA) is delighted to announce that Senator Richard "Ricky" Skerritt, Chairman of the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) and Minister of Tourism and International Transport for St Kitts and Nevis, will deliver the keynote address at the Association’s 2012 AGM. The important meeting which takes place at Paradise Cove Resort on March 21 will also be attended by distinguished guest - Hugh Riley, the CTO's Secretary General.

President of the Association, Mrs. Sherille Hughes says, “We are honored to have two such visionary leaders attend our AGM. Every year we encourage attendance at this important event by inviting dynamic and relevant key note speakers from the Caribbean tourism community. Mr Skerritt is very familiar with Anguilla and extremely knowledgeable about our industry. He has a deep knowledge and specialism in Access and Transportation in the Caribbean and as Chairman of the CTO – really has his finger on the pulse of what is happening in regional tourism. Access is a very topical subject for Anguilla and one which we are sure many people will want to hear his thoughts on that. He and Mr Riley will also take the opportunity of this visit to Anguilla to meet with members of the Government of Anguilla - we are delighted they have both agreed to join us.”

Also expected to deliver a brief message at the AGM is His Excellency the Governor, Hon Alastair Harrison and Parliamentary Secretary with Responsibility for Tourism Hon Haydn Hughes. The meeting will take place at Paradise Cove Resort on Wednesday 21st March and will start promptly at 4.00pm. The President will give a full report of the Associations activities in 2011 and there will also be the formal election of officers - where three of the existing Board of Directors will stand down after a three year term - and three new (or returning) officers will be appointed. The AGM will be followed by a cocktail reception ‘Poolside’ for the attendees. All members of the AHTA in good standing are able and encouraged to attend - outstanding membership dues can be paid on the day.
