AHTA Elects Officers for 2009/2010

Press Release: ANGUILLA, BRITISH WEST INDIES, Thursday, 27th August, 2009. 

The Board of Directors (BOD) of the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association (AHTA) held an election of officers at its Board meeting on Tuesday, 25th August 2009. Ms Kay Ferguson, Executive Director chaired the election for the officers of the AHTA Board and was ably assisted by Mrs Gilda Gumbs-Samuel, Membership and Events Manager. Nominations were accepted for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.


The following candidates were nominated and unanimously voted to continue serving as: 

  • President – Mrs Sherille Hughes, Manager of Paradise Cove Resort and 3rd Vice President of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association; 
  • Vice President – Mr Delroy Lake, General Manager of Kú;
  • Secretary – Mrs Catherine Orchard, Manager of Anguilla Villa Company; and 
  • Treasurer – Mr Wilbert (Will) Fleming, Manager of Anguilla Great House. 
These four members of the Board will serve in the officer positions for a 1-year term from 2009 to 2010. Other members who are currently serving on the AHTA Board of Directors include Ms Avon Carty, Corporate Communications Manager – LIME; Mr Bart van Deventer, Resort Manager – Malliouhana Hotel & Spa; Mr Karle Connor, Owner – Anguilla Home and Gardens; Mrs Janine Edwards, Director of Administration/Marketing – Sunset Homes; and Mr Stephane Zaharia, General Manager – CuisinArt Resort & Spa. 

Heartiest congratulations are extended to Sherille Hughes, Delroy Lake, Catherine Orchard and Will Fleming with best wishes for their continued success in “strengthening Anguilla’s tourism through the Association”. 

The AHTA membership comprises over 160 hotels, villas and allied members. It is Anguilla’s oldest and largest private Association and is wholly funded by membership subscriptions and fundraising events. It’s motto is ‘strengthening Anguilla’s tourism through association.
